A deserving person will get a new lid on their home.

For the seventh year, Josh and Joanna Bickle of Integrity Roofing are giving a new roof to a deserving person.

To celebrate 10 years in business in the Shuswap, the couple is expanding the area from which nominations will be accepted, from Salmon Arm to Sorrento, Sicamous, Silver Creek and Enderby.

And, as a special gift to celebrate the company’s anniversary, the couple will add gutters to the roofing package.

While the area of eligibility has been expanded, the winner must have a current asphalt shingled roof. Also key to winning is being nominated by someone else.

“Ideally it’s somebody who gives back to the community in some way,” says Joanna, recalling last year’s winner was a paramedic and single mom, who received more than 31 nominations. “The idea behind it is kind of like a random act of kindness for somebody who does a lot in the community and who might not have much themselves.”

As always, the Bickles will accept nominations and, at the close of entries on Sunday, April 30, the couple will choose semifinalists and physically inspect each one to determine the roof most in need of replacement.

Integrity will have the support of Salmon Arm Home Building Centre for the third year in a row and, as they have since the beginning, GAF Building Supplies is taking care of a portion of the roofing material.

Once Integrity has determined a winner, the person who sent in the nomination will be notified. The company will then contact the winner directly to inform them, and their name will be posted on Integrity’s Facebook page.

Nominations should include the name of person being nominated, address of the roof to be replaced, short narrative detailing why you believe this person is deserving of a free roof, your name and contact information.

Submit nominations in writing using one of the following methods (no phone calls please): email to info@integrityroofing.ca, fax to 250-833-1100 or mail to PO Box 10021, Salmon Arm V1E 3B9.

All costs associated with replacing the roof will be covered entirely by Integrity Roofing and their sponsors. This includes removal of the old roof, replacing any damaged plywood, if necessary and labour and materials to put on a new shingled roof and dump costs.

“The winning roof will be determined at the sole discretion of Integrity Roofing Corp. and the number of nominations does not guarantee a winner but will be taken into consideration,” says Joanna.

Other individuals who have been gifted with new roofs are a Salmon Arm man burdened by multiple disabilities and confined to a wheelchair and a longtime community volunteer living on a disability allowance.
