The Salmon Arm Daybreak Rotary Club and the Shuswap Rotary Club made a special presentation to the Shuswap Hospital Foundation for the two designated palliative/end-of-life care rooms now in use at Shuswap Lake General Hospital.
Doug Murray, board president of the Shuswap Hospital Foundation, was extremely pleased to accept the donation of $5,000 from the two Rotary clubs.
The same amount was donated by each of Salmon Arm’s three Rotary clubs in September 2016.
The Salmon Arm Daybreak Rotary and Shuswap Rotary clubs made a further commitment to donate the additional $5,000 for the construction of the palliative/end-of-life care rooms.
“We are so pleased to accept this generous donation from the Salmon Arm Daybreak and Shuswap Rotary clubs,” said Murray. “The much-needed palliative-care facilities have now been completed and are in use at Shuswap Lake General Hospital. We are very grateful to the Rotary clubs in our community for their generous assistance to the new palliative care area.”
The two well-equipped palliative-care rooms are located on level two of Shuswap Lake General Hospital, and provide patients with excellent care and comfort.
The three Rotary clubs of Salmon Arm created a ‘Tri-Club’ committee to assist with this important palliative-care project and made an initial donation of $15,000.
