The New York Times has tipped its hat to our region of the world in a recent article about visiting Canada.

Of the five suggested trips “that might inspire” Americans to visit Canada – a Kelowna ski vacation made the list.

“The Delta Grand Okanagan Resort, in the heart of British Columbia’s Okanagan wine region, has a “Ski Canada’s Champagne Powder” package. Included are accommodations for two nights, two ski passes for Big White Ski Resort, located an hour away, return transportation from the ski resort and a wine tasting for two.”

According to the New York Times piece, Americans have always enjoyed visiting the great white north and with our low dollar they visit more frequently than ever before.

Destination Canada reports that from January to August of this year, visitors from the United States to Canada increased 9.4 per cent, to 9.8 million people.

The other four Canadian destinations and/or trips to get a nod;

  • The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge
  • The Ritz-Carlton, Montreal
  • A four-night Ontario Mini-Break and;
  • A guided trip through the Tobeatic Wilderness Area in Nova Scotia.
