Council is letting the good times roll at the Stomp with the approval of a temporary noise bylaw extension.

Organizers requested the extension, as they have for the past few years, to accommodate the event, and the live bands in particular. As such, the bylaw has been amended to run from 6:30 Thursday morning to 2 a.m. Friday, then from 6 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday to 4 a.m. the following morning. This stems from the original permit issued by the district that stated that the relaxation to the noise bylaw “be reviewed every year the festival is held and is tailored to address the events and specific times for the event.”

With local RCMP Sgt. Murray McNeil in council chambers, Coun. Colleen Anderson took the opportunity to have him weigh in on the matter.

“I don’t see how you can have an event, especially a biker event like that, without extending the noise bylaw,” McNeil stated in support of the extension.

With his endorsement, council unanimously approved the temporary noise bylaw extension.
