A mudslide four kilometres east of Canoe reduced Highway #1 to single lane, alternating traffic last evening and it still is single-lane, according to local motorists. However, traffic has been moving well.

Highway 97A between Grindrod and Sicamous was closed yesterday for the installation of a culvert, but reopened about 10 o’clock Wednesday night. It’s back to operating with single lane, alternating traffic today.

Within the City of Salmon Arm, Foothill Road remains closed due to a washout. In Gleneden, 50th Street NW and 42nd Street NW are open to single lane traffic only. On Okanagan Avenue in South Canoe off 60th Street NE, the city has installed a temporary culvert so there is single lane access to the area.

On Highway 1, bridge maintenance from 15 kilometres to 22 kilometres east of Sicamous is ongoing until 3 p.m. today, May 18. Drive BC reports the road is reduced to single lane alternating traffic with up to 20 minutes delay.

In the Turtle Valley, the Ministry of Transportation reports that Skimikin Road 200 metres south of Turtle Valley Road remains closed due to flooding. Detour via Bailey Road, 200 metres north of Turtle Valley Road.

A heads-up for the future to the west, drivers can expect maintenance five kilometres west of Sorrento from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday, next week. The road will be reduced to single lane alternating traffic.
