Officials from the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MoTI) advise that the 5900 block of Sunnybrae Canoe Point Road at Robinson Creek will reopen to vehicle traffic on a limited basis today Saturday, May 13.
Traffic will be single lane alternating and limited to daylight hours with scheduled openings at 9 a.m., noon, 3: p.m. and 6 p.m. to clear waiting traffic. Vehicles will not be permitted through the site between 6:15 p.m. to 6 a.m.
The site will be re-assessed after 48 hours to determine if expanding the hours is warranted. The public should expect delays and take precautions to ensure the safety of the workers on site.

Limited road openings to the public in the Sunnybrae slide area could happen early next week.
Officials at the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure advise that they are making progress on the road cleanup and repair in the 5900 block of Sunnybrae Canoe Point Road in Tappen.
Currently access through the site will only be permitted to MOTI construction vehicles.
“Public access through the site will not be permitted until the route is deemed to be safe by MOTI. Limited openings to the public are expected to occur early next week, weather and conditions permitting. In the event of an emergency beyond the slide area, MOTI will work with emergency services to provide access,” states an information bulletin provided by the Columbia Shuswap Regional District.
The evacuation order for 13 properties from 5866 to 5948 Sunnybrae Canoe Point Road remains in effect. The evacuation alert issued Thursday night for the seven properties adjacent to the evacuation order area to the east, from 5951 to 5990, remains in effect as well. Residents living beyond the landslide area will not be able to travel through the evacuation zone at this time.
A geotechnical assessment of the slide area is scheduled for Monday, May 15. The CSRD will provide an information update on the results of the asssessment when it is made available.

An Evacuation Alert was issued at 7 this evening for seven properties located on Sunnybrae Canoe Point Road, Tappen, in Electoral Area C of the Columbia Shuswap Regional District.
Based on geotechnical analysis of the May 6, 2017 Robinson Creek landslide event on the 5900 block of Sunnybrae Canoe Point Road, it was recommended that addresses 5951 to 5990 be placed on an Evacuation Alert.
The analysis indicates that due to the complex nature of the alluvial fan, in combination with the snowpack present on the plateau and the forecast for potential heavy rain that the residents of the seven properties be prepared to evacuate on short notice.
An Evacuation Order continues to be in effect for thirteen properties on Sunnybrae Canoe Point Road from addresses 5866 to 5948. Members of the public are advised to please remain away from the area. Residents living beyond the landslide area will not be able to travel through the Evacuation Zone at this time.
