UPDATED: Bomb threat at Shuswap Middle School

A bomb threat at Shuswap Middle School has resulted in all students being moved to South Broadview Elementary.

A bomb threat at Shuswap Middle School resulted in all students being evacuated from the school while the RCMP investigated the situation.

“The school had received a threat by phone by an unknown individual and that threat was directed a the school,” said an RCMP release.

“All students are safe and the School District is ensuring the student’s get home safely.”

School buses operated as usual, with students being picked up South Broadview Elementary instead of SMS.

The  evacuation took place around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8.

Students were directed to leave belongings, leaving many of the students without access to their lunches.

The threat was reported near the end of recess while most of students were outside.

Teachers were called to the office and the fire alarm then sounded.

All students were then evacuated outside at which point they were told they had to leave the school for safety reasons.

Students were walked down to wait at the South Broadview Elementary gymnasium.

The RCMP are still investigating.

"The incident has now been determined to have been a hoax and all leads are now being followed up by the police," according to a RCMP release.

"The call has now been determined to be a hoax and all leads are now being followed up by the police."

RCMP officers are currently investigating

SMS has been the victim of prank bomb threats in the past.
