Salmon Arm residents awoke Wednesday morning, May 24, to find trees toppled and branches and debris scattered about as a result of the prior night’s wind storm.

While Salmon Arm Fire Department’s Fire Training Services Officer Mike Bailey was responding to calls throughout the night related to trees falling on power lines, a cluster of trees fell on his home near the Little Mountain sports fields. Another tree fell on his boat. No one was injured but there was structural damage.

Multiple trees were uprooted on the Hillcrest Elementary school grounds, with one bending a swing in the forested area. A block west of the school, on 12th Ave SE, a tree fell down over a power line and across the road. The road was closed as a result. Another tree fell across Upper Lakeshore Road. It also hit power lines, resulting in a road closure.
