The month of March has been one filled with new beginnings as spring shows itself to be just around the corner.

The beginning of the month was kicked off with a jazz concert put on by Sullivan’s Senior Jazz Band.

The senior jazz combo showed off the confidence they have acquired through practice and perseverance, inspiring both students and parents alike to understand that if you are truly passionate about anything in life, all you need is determination.

Before the last performance of the night, the audience was wowed by one of Sullivan’s most promising musicians: Jasmin Schweitzer. Jasmin gave the audience a sample of the concerto she is set to play with the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra later on in May.

Finally, the senior jazz band impressed the audience with an upbeat set that included the song “Beyond the Sea,” with a featured vocal solo performed by Cassie O’Flaherty.

As the month of March progressed, students began to feel a little restless knowing their much-deserved break was rapidly approaching.

As students discussed how they would be spending their breaks, we learned a group of SAS students were scheduled to go on a trip to Prague, exploring new cultures and meeting new people in the Czech Republic. These students will come back with a world of new experiences after attending ballets, operas and historical museums.

On the other end of the spectrum, the senior rugby teams were fortunate enough to play and practice rugby in bright and sunny Trinidad and Tobago. These students will be bringing back new friends, new insights and, of course, some well-deserved tans.

All in all, the month of March was a month of bright new beginnings for the students of Salmon Arm Secondary.
