Sicamous’ Shea Weber continues to have one of the fastest slap shots in the NHL.
At the 2017 NHL All-Star Skills Competition, held on Jan. 28 in Los Angeles, the Montreal Canadiens' defenceman had the fastest shot in the Oscar Mayer NHL Hardest Shot event, clocking 102.8 miles-per hour (160 km/hr). Winnipeg Jets’ forward Patrick Laine came in second with a shot clocked at 101.7 mph.
This is the third year in a row for Weber, with his fastest shot clocked at 108.5 mph. Boston Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara holds the record of 108.8 mph.
Weber was traded by the Nashville Predators to the Canadiens in June 2016.
