Rosa’s back at Blackburn
Rosa’s Taco Stand is open again at Blackburn Park. This year she will open on Saturdays as well to accommodate the soccer crowd. Her hours are Tuesday to Friday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.
Hit the greens
The Salmon Arm Golf 18-Hole Champions Course is opening this weekend along with their restaurant. Their nine-hole champion course has been open since the 21st.
Club Shuswap opened their driving range three weeks ago and their 18 holes a week later. Their nine-hole course is opening this weekend.
Shuswap Lake Estates has been open since April 7.
Canoe Creek Golf Course is opening sometime in the first week of May. Canoe Creek has new owners, brothers Sean and Michael Foss, who are doing major renovations on the clubhouse as well as improving the looks of the property.
Event launch
Tickets for the popular Launch-A-Preneur event are now on sale. At this event, teams compete for thousands of dollars in packages and in-kind donations designed to help with business startup.
This ‘Dragon’s Den’ style event sold out last year. This year’s participants are: Shuswap Event, Treehouse Bistro, Wise Woman Seeds, Winebox Sweets Co., On Point Concrete Forming Ltd., Harder Concrete, Rocking Wheels, Chaga Borea, Kate’s Smoothies, Elderberry Grove, and Meikle Studios.
It takes place on Thursday, May 4, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the Salmar Classic Theatre. Tickets are $15 and are available at Community Futures, 101, 160 Harbourfront Drive NE, or Salmon Arm Economic Development Society, #203, 20 Hudson Avenue NE. Panda on the move
The Hungry Panda is moving to 180 Hudson Street and will be opening in late May. They will continue their favourite noodle boxes as well as adding new menu items.
“Well be staying in the Asian realm but we’re looking at salads and wraps,” says Stewart Fells.
Their restaurant will have seating for 10, and their hours will be 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
“We’re really excited. It’s a new chapter. This move is accommodate the growing demand of the business.”
Choices selling
After nine years, Daniel and Jean Feist are selling their soup and sandwich shop, Choices.
“We are still in the process of completing the sale and we would like our customers to come in and say goodbye and have an opportunity to say goodbye. We expect our last day to be May 13, and the new owner will take possession on the 15. We look forward to seeing many of our customers before we’re done,” says Daniel.
“Running Choices has been one of the greatest pleasures of my life. I’ve really enjoyed it – it’s all about people. Jean and I are looking forward to going into the real world and spending time with really wonderful people – our grandchildren.”
