Kingfisher casts fishing lessons in Enderby

Annual Learn to Fish Day Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Kids and families are invited to enjoy a full day of fun and fishing at Kingfisher this weekend.

The Enderby interpretive centre hosts the annual Learn to Fish Day Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

"Everything is supplied, it's a free Sunday with lots of activities out there," said event organizer Perry Wainwright.

Freshwater Fisheries is stocking the pond, where kids can catch one or two fish, "if they are biting," Wainwright said.

Last year's event saw maybe seven or eight fish caught total, but there are a number of other activities if the fish aren't biting.

Learn to cast, take in a river safety course, paint rocks, learn bug identification or just enjoy the day in nature.

There is also food on site and prizes will be awarded.

Kingfisher is located 23 kilometres from Enderby, on Mabel Lake Road.
