Local artists took inspiration from the theme Sicamous in Bloom to paint the banners that will decorate the town through spring and summer. The community was able to get an up close and personal look at the banners when they were displayed at the Red Barn.

Vreny Bieri and Victoria Simpson have organized the banner painting to bring some locally-created decoration to town each spring since 2000. They say this year’s theme has been very well received by artists who painted the banners with bright colours and designs featuring flowers.

“It’s about community, about bringing community together,” Simpson said.

She said groups ranging from preschool students to local seniors painted banners. Simpson added she was encouraged by the number of new residents of the community who participated in the project.

A total of 46 banners filled the walls and rafters of the Red Barn over the weekend allowing the community to appreciate the fine details before they are hung up around town.

Bieri and Simpson said the Banners will be displayed sometime within the next few weeks.
