Riverside Ranch in Mara is saying trick or treat for the local food bank with a spooktacular fundraiser that puts the care back in scare.

The event promises to be fun for the whole family, while also helping those in need.

“The food banks need our support more than ever!” say organizers. As if that’s not reason enough to attend, there will also be a barbecue with burgers and hotdogs, a candy scramble, pumpkin painting for the kids, games, a bonfire to keep warm and music from DJ Kate Wilkinson to get people ‘boo’gying. The pièce de résistance, however, is the chance to shoot the Pumpkinator cannon and send that fruit a-flyin’.

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 29 at the Mara farm located at 42 West Poirier Rd. As a fundraiser, cash donations are encouraged, but non-perishable food items are also gratefully accepted, with all proceeds being split between the Enderby Food Bank and the Sicamous Eagle Valley Community Food Bank due to Mara’s central location.
