From the April 13, 1983 Observer: “Ivy and Herb Ford are the local returning officers, and have been since 1956 for every election except one! Ivy Ford, who serves as election clerk is now setting up office beside Shuswap Insurance while Herb Ford was out putting up the proclamation of  the returning officer all over the Shuswap-Revelstoke electoral district. There are three different posters which have to be posted and it takes Ford three trips around the electoral district to deliver each set – that’s a lot of driving. The map shows the area covered by the electoral district.” Image courtesy the Salmon Arm Observer collection in the Archives at R.J. Haney Heritage Village & Museum.
