Update: Sicamous barely ahead in Sled Town Showdown

Only one vote separated Sicamous and Tumbler Ridge in the final round of voting to choose B.C.’s favourite sledding destination. At 12:45 p.m. on December 3 the race was neck and neck with Sicamous in the lead by only one vote.

Voting closes on Dec. 9.

Out of a bracket of 16 of the best snowmobiling towns in B.C., Sicamous has almost risen to the top.

The BC portion of the Sled Town Showdown, a contest put on by Snoriders, an online snowmobiling magazine, is almost at an end with Sicamous and Tumbler Ridge duking it out in a tight race for the top spot.

In the final round of voting, Tumbler Ridge currently enjoys a slight lead over Sicamous. In the fourth round of voting, which runs from Nov. 26 to Dec. 9, the northern B.C. community has amassed 1,504 votes while Sicamous has racked up 1,472.

In the previous rounds, each of the finalist communities received more than 2,200 votes.

Sicamous overcame McBride in the opening round of voting and then received more votes than Smithers in the second round. In third round voting, setting up the final round, Sicamous beat Valemont while Tumbler Ridge overcame Revelstoke.
