A walk outside on a May day and a lesson in the Village of Chase’s history are on offer May 5 in celebration of Chase’s 110th anniversary.
The tours will be conducted by local history buffs David Lepsoe and Vic Skijie, who will lead their audience on a 45-minute, one kilometre tour of Chase, exploring its historic roots as a lumber town through buildings that have stood since the time of the Adams River Lumber Company that operated beginning in 1908.
The tour begins at the map board on the corner of Shuswap Avenue and Coburn Street and, before it is over, organizers promise attendees will know a little more about who was who in the village on the shores of Little Shuswap Lake.
After hearing fascinating facts and stories from the village’s past, the tour will wrap up at the Inside Out Coffee House, which happens to be located in a historic building.
The ticket to the tour includes a bite to eat at the coffee house. Skijie will give a presentation about a historical photo displayed inside the and the people featured in it.
The tour starts at 1 p.m. and then again at 4 p.m. Tickets are $10 and include pie and a beverage for the 1 p.m. tour and soup and a sandwich for the 4 p.m. tour. They are available at the Inside Out Coffee House or on Elite Events BC’s Facebook page.
