UPDATE 3:20 p.m.:
Highway 97 has been reopened and power has been restored in the area.
A crash near Westwold knocked down a power pole and turned off the power for an estimated 800 residents around 2:20 p.m.
BC Hydro and DriveBC report the incident has been cleared and power is back on.
The closure was caused by a truck that collided with a hydro pole around 1:30 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 97 and Back Road in Westwold.
"The collision caused extensive damage to the pole and vehicle and caused the hydro lines to come down and block the road," said Const. Chris Terleski, Vernon North Okanagan RCMP media relations officer. "Highway 97 was closed for a period of time to allow crews to safely conduct repairs to the infrastructure. No injuries were reported."
It was the second reported vehicle going off the highway Monday.
Earlier in the day, around 11:15 a.m., police responded to a single vehicle collision in the 6600-block of Highway 97 near Westwold.
"The vehicle was travelling on the highway when it caught the soft shoulder pulling it off the road and into the ditch," said Terleski. "No injuries were reported."
