Feedback is wanted on Salmon Arm's food hub.

The Zest Commercial Food Hub offers local food-focused entrepreneurs space, including certified commercial kitchens, and access to a wide range of equipment, enabling them to process and produce their products without having to invest in their own costly equipment needs.

Since opening in 2021, Zest has been used steadily by local businesses, while providing educational opportunities with in-house mentorship for Zest tenants/users, and cooking programs available to the public.

"This collaborative model connects local resources, fosters mentorship opportunities, and strengthens the regional food system," reads a Zest media release.

Looking to the future of food innovation and entrepreneurship, Zest has launched a market analysis survey, which will help feed a business plan for the facility.

"This is an opportunity for local food producers and the broader community to contribute valuable insights that will guide the future direction of Zest Commercial Food Hub," reads the media release. "The data collected will enable Zest to tailor its services, infrastructure, and resources to better serve entrepreneurs, foster economic growth, and create opportunities that drive sustainable, locally-focused food production."

As a thank-you to survey participants, Zest is offering a chance to win one of two prize packs, each valued at $160, or two tickets to the BCHL All Stars Game taking place on Saturday, Jan. 18 in Salmon Arm.

Open from Nov. 22 to Dec. 15th, 2024, the survey can be found at surveymonkey.com/r/zestfoodhub.

Zest is part of the BC Food Hub Network, an initiative by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food to support small-scale food processors and strengthen local food systems.
