Shuswap area drivers are facing additional delays as retaining wall remediation work starts on Highway 97A the same day the Bruhn Bridge project implements overnight alternating traffic.
In a Facebook post Friday afternoon, AIM Roads announced that construction on the Mara-Swansea Point retaining wall project will start Tuesday, Nov. 12, with work scheduled to take place from 4 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Saturday. Single-lane alternating traffic will be implemented during those hours, with no road closures longer than 15 minutes expected.
At the same time, however, the Bruhn Bridge on Highway 1 will also be limited to overnight single-lane alternating traffic as stated on the government's project website.
AIM's Facebook post adds, however, that "should there be any changes to the Bruhn Bridge Project closures, AIM will provide updates."
AIM also states that construction message boards will be placed at key locations to inform drivers of planned closures, DriveBC will be updated regularly and that information will also be posted on AIM's social media sites and shared to local community group pages.
