Sicamous Eagles players Levi Dewitt, Clayton Gillmore and Michael Makowsky made the cut to play for the KIJHL team in the Nov. 19 BCHC Prospects Game in Langley.

Three Sicamous Eagles players will take flight in the 2024 BCHC Prospects Game on the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) team to showcase their skills in front of scouts for the Western Hockey League (WHL).

The rosters for the third annual BC Hockey Conference game were announced in a media release on Wednesday, Nov. 6, with some familiar faces making the cut. Sicamous product Levi Dewitt, whose older brother Owen played the Prospects Game last year, will suit up for the blueline, with fellow Eagles Clayton Gillmore (West Kelowna) joining him in the forward group, and Michael Makowsky (Okotoks, Alta.) in net.

The lineup was determined over the past month by head coach Dave Hnatiuk and his coaching and operations staff. Hnatiuk admitted it wasn't an easy decision.

"Our staff faced a number of difficult choices in narrowing down the group that will represent the KIJHL…," Hnatiuk said in the media release. "It was exciting to see the increase of WHL-drafted and listed athletes in our player pool this season, and we look forward to beginning our off-ice preparations so that this group can capitalize on the opportunity to showcase themselves at this event."

The KIJHL's Top Prospects will head to Langley on Sunday, Nov. 17 for the two-day event that will include a team practice, participation in the WHL Testing Combine and a banquet on Monday. The game itself will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 19, when the KIJHL skaters face off against the prospects from the Pacific Junior Hockey League at 6 p.m.
