The Sicamous Eagles had a hat trick highlight from Ashton Angle Friday night for a 7-2 win, before dropping Saturday's game 9-4 in 100 Mile House.

Though the Sicamous Eagles went one and one on the weekend in the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL), Ashton Angle delivered a solid performance earning four of the team's 11 goals, including a hat trick highlight.

On Friday, Nov. 1, Sicamous cooled the Chase Heat with a 7-2 win, starting in the first frame when Austin Horbachewsky lit up the board, with Walker Overwater and Angle adding assists. Though the Heat responded to tie it up, the Eagles had a runaway in the second with Horbachewsky adding another, Angle with two and Clayton Gillmore and Tristen Bailey also adding markers for a strong 6-1 lead.

The Heat had a last stand with their second marker early in the final frame before Angle shut it down with his third of the night, a short-handed goal to complete the hat trick.

Things took a turn the following night, however, when the team suffered a 9-4 loss on the road against the 100 Mile House Wranglers who opened with three back-to-back goals for an early lead. Nick Wright got the Eagles on the board later in the first but 100 Mile added another three in second. Angle scored his fourth of the weekend off of Hayden Evans while Horbachewsky potted another on a power play for the Eagles to trail 6-3.

The third saw both teams spend more time in the box waiting out penalties than ice time, though the Wranglers continued to push ahead on one of those power-play opportunities. Alexander Leskiw got one final marker between the pipes, assisted by the recently picked up Reyd Langan and Evans before 100 Mile closed the game with another two.

"Took a tough loss in 100 Mile House as the Wranglers hosted their parents weekend," the team said in a Facebook post. "Was a tough battle against a team with that much support behind them."

The Eagles bring the action back to Sicamous this weekend as they host the Kamloops Storm Friday, Nov. 8, and the Kelowna Chiefs Saturday, Nov. 9, with a 7 p.m. start time both nights.

On Sunday, Nov. 10 at 1 p.m. there will be a special Alumni Game with familiar faces returning to the ice in recognition of the Eagles franchise's 30th anniversary.
