The Sicamous Eagles opened the 2024/25 season with a win during the first exhibition game against the Revelstoke Grizzlies on Aug. 30.

On Friday night the team hit the road for the pre-season opener, defeating the host team 3-2 under the direction of new bench boss Liam McOnie, former head coach of the now defunct North Okanagan Knights.

The first frame went to the Grizzlies, with Ethan Buhler getting the puck between the posts, unassisted, just 17 seconds under the wire. Max Kinnee, just signed in June, put the Eagles on the board early in the second, off a pass from Ashton Angle suiting up for his second season with the team.

Revy answered back soon after to regain the lead going into the second intermission. The two teams traded penalties for the first half of the third, before third-year veteran Everett Boutcher scored unassisted on a power play for the Eagles to tie the game. With overtime seeming imminent, returning forward Brendan Calahasen scored at the 19:37 mark to give Sicamous the win.

The teams have a rematch tonight, Aug. 31, on home ice at the Sicamous & District Rec Centre, with the puck drop at 7 p.m.
