The Sicamous Eagles split their first pre-season series, with 3-2 win against the Revelstoke Grizzlies on Friday, Aug. 30 followed by a 5-2 loss the next night.

The Sicamous Eagles ended up splitting games over the weekend in Kootenay International Junior Hockey League pre-season exhibition action.

In the first pre-season game, the Eagles took a 3-2 while on the road against the Revelstoke Grizzlies, but dropped their home game 5-2 the following night in a rematch.

Though the teams traded penalties throughout the first, neither scored until the second when veteran Grizzlie Jaylen Forsyth potted two quick ones within four minutes of each other. The first was a single-handed goal, while Tomas Boon and Markus Thompson added assists on the second.

Sicamous rebounded early in the third, with Max Kinnee and Ashton Gallagher both lighting up the board, with assists from Tye Matthew, Gavin Bretherick, Josh Missfeldt and Devon Barclay for a short-lived tie. Thompson then scored the game-winning goal, while Avery Lynch and Dayton Abbott (unassisted) notched two more for a definitive win, with assists coming from Forsyth, Jake Phillips-Watts and Ethan Buhler.

The Eagles are back on the ice with another exhibition series against the Chase Heat whom they host on Friday, Sept. 6, with a rematch on the road Sunday, Sept. 7. The puck drops at 7 p.m. for both games.
