ELECTION 2018: Marianne VanBuskirk, Amanda Krebs new school trustees

VanBuskirk and Krebs to represent Salmon Arm, three other electoral area seats filled

Amanda Krebs, new School District 83 trustee for Salmon Arm

Ten candidates ran for the two Salmon Arm seats on the School District #83 board of education.

At the end of polling on Oct. 20, the winners were Amanda Krebs and Marianne VanBuskirk.

The preliminary election results show that VanBuskirk topped the polls with 1,436 votes, while Krebs tallied 1,313 votes.

In Electoral Area 1: City of Armstrong/District of Spallumcheen/Columbia Shuswap Regional District Area D (Falkland, Salmon Valley, Deep Creek and Ranchero), Tennile Lachmuth won with 1,039 votes over Carolyn Farris’ 784.

It was a relatively tight race in Electoral Area 2: City of Enderby/CSRD Area E/District of Sicamous/Regional District of North Okanagan Area F. Quentin Bruns received 804 votes versus Fred Busch’s 728.

In Electoral Area 3, South Shuswap and North Shuswap-Seymour Arm, Martin Gibbons was acclaimed.

Voting numbers are considered unofficial until Tuesday, Oct. 23.
