A pedestrian suffered severe injuries after being struck by a vehicle Thursday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to a parking lot in the 2500 block of 53rd Avenue at 2:30 p.m. and a medevac was called in.

The air ambulance used the north end of the Village Green Centre parking lot to land, but was not needed as the patient was transported by ground ambulance to the hospital.

The victim, a 50-year-old woman, suffered life-threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and is cooperating with police, who are continuing to investigate the collision.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision, and have not already spoken to investigators, to contact Constable Richard Lausman of the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP at 250-545-7171.
