MLA Greg Kyllo, MP Mel Arnold and Sicamous councillors Malcolm Makayev, Colleen Anderson, Gord Bushell and Jeff Mallmes look on as Mayor Terry Rysz readies to dig in for the ceremonial ground-breaking, welcoming construction of the new roundabout at Main Street and Highway 97A.

The project is expected to cost $7 million dollars, to be funded from a $30 million Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure fund intended for intersection safety improvements.

The roundabout will address the safety issues of the former "octopus" intersection by keeping traffic flowing which, in turn, will help to reduce the potential for collisions. Safer pedestrian crossing will be integrated with the roundabout.
