Kelowna Mayor Tom Dyas is on the road to recovery.
Earlier this week, Dyas suffered a vertebral artery dissection (VAD), which is a tear of the inner lining of the vertebral neck artery.
As he recovers, he is temporarily away from his duties as mayor. Councillor Luke Stack will serve as the Deputy Mayor and will take on Dyas' day-to-day responsibilities.
“Our thoughts are with Mayor Dyas as he takes the time needed to recover,” said city manager Doug Gilchrist. “On behalf of Council and the community, we wish him a full and speedy recovery and look forward to his return.”
