Slippery, snowy conditions contributed to a two-vehicle collision that resulted in one man being sent to hospital.

Thursday morning, at approximately 11 a.m., Sicamous RCMP officers were called to the Trans-Canada Highway, near the Old Spallumcheen Road turnoff, where one semi tractor-trailer unit had collided with another. Const. Pat Pyper reports that one of the semis, travelling east, was coming down the hill near Bruhn Bridge when the driver, a 48-year-old woman from Abbottsford, found the road to be slippery. As the truck slowed down the trailer jackknifed. The driver got out of the vehicle and tried to warn other trucks coming down the hill to stop. While this was happening, Pyper says the driver’s partner, who had been asleep in the berth, got up and exited the truck via the passenger-side door. As he put his foot down on the step, he was struck and driven over by another tractor trailer unit driven by a 46-year-old Edmonton man. Pyper says the injured man sustained a broken pelvis and internal injuries.

No charges have been laid and the incident remains under investigation.
