Minor injuries incurred in four vehicle crash

A crash has closed the Trans-Canada 46 kilometres east of Revelstoke on the morning of Thursday, Mar. 3.

Only minor injuries were incurred in a four vehicle accident Thursday morning, RCMP said.

The crash, which involved two cars and two tractor-trailers, happened about 50 km east of Revelstoke at around 9:30 a.m. on Mar. 3.

It started when a westbound GMC Safari fish-tailed while exiting a snow shed. A tractor trailer following it attempted to brake but wound up striking the corner of the van causing it to spin out and come to a rest in the west bound land. The truck came to rest in a snow bank along the east bound shoulder, with its trailer blocking the highway.

Meanwhile, a Dodge Caravan heading east managed to stop before hitting the truck but an eastbound semi was unable to stop and collided with the trailer of the first semi, causing damage to the truck and the Caravan.

All people involved were transported to hospital, where they were later released with minor injuries.

No charges were laid.

The accident closed the highway for about two hours.
