Shotgun stolen from vehicle on Eagle Pass Way

Sicamous RCMP urge public to be prompt in reporting suspicious/criminal activities.

Sicamous RCMP are asking the public to be prompt in reporting suspicious or criminal activity after receiving a report of a stolen shotgun well after the fact.

Sgt. Scott West said the theft was reported to have occurred sometime between 2 and 3 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20. A black, 12-gauge, pump-action Mossberg shotgun with a pistol grip went missing from the back seat of an unlocked vehicle parked on Eagle Pass Way.

"The owner was in the process of unloading the vehicle and another person associated to the vehicle spotted a suspected culprit outside with a flashlight near the vehicle," said West in a news release. "The incident was not reported until the next day."

Anyone who may have any information related to this theft is encouraged to contact the local detachment at 250-836-2878, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 to leave an anonymous tip.

West asks that people call 911, or the local detachment, while a crime or suspicious activity is in progress, and not wait until the following day.

"The report of a crime in progress or a suspect criminal act in progress gives the police a fighting chance of catching the culprit in the act," said West.
