Sicamous RCMP catch two for driving offences

One prohibited and one impaired driver taken off the road

The Sicamous RCMP collared two motorists for prohibited and impaired driving.

On the afternoon of Nov. 9 the RCMP stopped a pickup truck on the Cunningham Frontage road in Malakwa to check for sobriety and the status of the man’s driver’s license. the officer confirmed that the driver a 47-year-old Malakwa man was prohibited from driving. The driver was issued a Dec. 18 court date and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

On Nov. 11 at 5:30 p.m. the RCMP stopped a van on Main Street in Sicamous for a sobriety check. The officer who stopped the van immediately noticed signs of impairment in the driver. The 51-year-old Salmon Arm resident who was behind the wheel was arrested for drunk driving and taken to the Sicamous RCMP detachment where he failed two breath tests. He was issued a court date of January 15 as well as a driving prohibition and a seven-day impound of his vehicle.
