It’s an aerial view into Salmon Arm’s future.

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure has released a video illustrating the proposed Salmon Arm West project. It includes bird’s eye view of what the completed Trans-Canada Highway/Salmon River Bridge upgrades would look like.

The video was initially shown to the public at the ministry’s Nov. 28 open house in Salmon Arm. Residents in attendance were mostly supportive of the plans, though some noted the lack of, and need for, a bypass for commercial vehicle traffic, as well improved access for neighbouring First Nations.

Preloading for the project is expected to begin in the spring of 2018.
