A 27-year-old Victoria woman, who was tubing on Shuswap Lake Sunday afternoon, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries after colliding with a houseboat.

Sicamous RCMP Sgt. Carl Vinet says that on Aug. 21 at around 2:24 p.m., police responded to a report of a collision involving a houseboat and a Sea-Doo pulling a female on a tube (both parties were associated.)

Police learned that the Sea-Doo operator had been doing some maneuvers close to the houseboat when the woman on the tube lost control and crashed into the side of the houseboat.

The victim, who momentarily lost consciousness, was escorted back to Sicamous where she was air-lifted to hospital in Kamloops.

Vinet says alcohol was not a factor, and PFDs were used by all involved.

“It appears as though boating inexperience was the primary contributing factor,” says Vinet.
