Stead Phillip David
David Phillip Stead passed away peacefully in Vancouver General Hospital on Monday, June 30, 2008 at the age of 62 years.
Born in Fort McMurray, Alberta on September 19, 1945, Dave moved to England with his mother and siblings at four years of age. He returned to Canada in 1978 with his family to work in the construction industry and was recognized for his work ethic and ability to build anything. Dave worked at Revelstoke Dam, Three Valley Gap and many years in the bush.Finally, he worked as Construction Manager at Twin Anchors Marine Manufacturing prior to his stroke in August of 1997. His love of the bush and the mountains added much to his life and enjoyment of living in the area. Dave had many hobbies and loves which were spending time with family, especially his grandchildren, golfing, watching Speedway car racing and spending quiet time by his creek with wife Gwyneth and beloved cat, Sootie.
Dave is survived by his loving family, wife, Gwyneth of 45 years; sons, Jonathan (Cindy) of Merritt, David (Lisa) of Vernon; daughter, Georgina (Greg) of Sicamous, grandsons, Jaxson, Krstian, Mackenzie, Brady, Bryton and Jordan; granddaughters, Sarah, Brittany, Angela, Samantha and Taiya (born on Friday evening prior to Granddad’s passing); sisters, Ann (Gareth) of Wales, Janet (John) of England, Virginia (Liz) of Scotland and brother, John (Sue) of England. Dave was predeceased by mother, Elizabeth, stepfather, Frederick and father, Phillip.
A celebration of life service will be held from the chapel of Bowers Funeral Home, Salmon Arm, on Saturday, July 12th at 2:00 p.m. with Jack Bowers officiating. A reception will follow in the Mountainside Room at Bowers.
