It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Epp de Jong, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Epp passed away on April 14, 2017 with his wife at his side.

Epp was born to Akke and Ate de Jong on February 8, 1935 in Holland. At the age of 3, the family moved to Canada. Most of Epp’s early years were spent living and working on his family farm in Houston, BC.

In 1968, Epp moved into the Sicamous area and worked as a mechanic at some of the local service stations. It was during that time that he met the love of his life, Janet. They were married on July 16, 1974.

Epp became a heavy-duty mechanic in 1981. He spent the rest of his working days up on the Rogers Pass. After retirement, Epp and Jan continued to live in their home at Silver Sands, where he kept busy tending to his garden, chickens and flowers.

Epp will be missed dearly by his wife, Jan; children, John, Janet, Donald (Laurie), Ross (Della) and Joan; 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; sisters, Florence (Dick) and Shirley (John); and sisters-in-law, Vera and Jenny Day. Epp was predeceased by his son, Brian and brother, Ernie and George.

At Epp’s request, there will be a small, family gathering, at a later date. A huge thank you to the doctors and nurses at Shuswap Lake General Hospital for taking such good care of Epp during his final days.

Online condolences may be sent to the family through Epp’s obituary at www.bowersfuneralservice.com. Arrangements were in the care of Bowers Funeral Home and Crematorium, Salmon Arm.
