August 3, 1930 - June 14, 2018
It is with very heavy hearts that the family of Harvey Douglas Stone said goodbye to their beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather on June 14, 2018.

Harv was born on August 3, 1930 in the small town of Elk Point, Alberta. He spent his early years with his dad, moving from mining camp to lumber camp before finally settling in Prince George, BC. At the age of 16, Harvey started work in the saw mill piling lumber, which led to a long career as a sawyer and ultimately a millwright. In 1952 he and Louise were married in Prince George and started their family. After many moves around northern BC, they settled in Sicamous, where Harvey worked at Drew Sawmills from 1972 until 1982 when he suffered a back injury. Their family by now had expanded to six children.

He was a talented, hardworking craftsman and passed along that passion to his kids and grandkids. Everyone in the family has several handcrafted pieces that he lovingly constructed in his woodworking shop.

He was extremely witty and loved to make people laugh with a good knee slapper or classic one liner. Harvey and Lou enjoyed many travelling adventures to Europe, Norway, across Canada, throughout BC and the Western USA, often accompanied by family.

A celebration of life is planned for later this summer.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of one's choice.

Harvey is deeply loved and missed by his wife of 65 years, Louise Stone and their five children; Karen Baker, Curtis (Karen) Stone, Ken (Cindy) Stone, Darcy Stone and Gary (Kelly) Stone; grandchildren Stacey (Cody) Baker, Tanya (Ryan) Hodgkinson, Shawn Stone, Jenny (Elliott) Stone, Randy Stone, Wendy (Andrew) Stone, Megan Stone, Valerie (Jesse) Rogers, Kelsey Baker, Rachel Stone, Kristen (Nathan) Baker and Sheldon Stone; great grandchildren Brooklyn, Samantha and Deegan and his beloved four-legged companion Dib.

Harvey was predeceased by his mother, Mary Stone in 1938, his father Thad Stone in 1967, his son Paul in 1993, and his favourite son-in-law Ken Baker in 2015.

There will be a memorial service held for Harvey at 2:00 PM, August 3, 2018 at the Sicamous Seniors Centre, 1095 Shuswap Ave, Sicamous, BC. All are welcome to attend.
