September 29, 1921 – November 26, 2018
A beautiful, kind, generous woman decided it was her time to rest. Hilde was born in Neu Erbersdorf, Sudentenland (Czechoslovakia) and came to Canada with her 12year old son John to start a new life with her soon to be husband, George in 1952. They lived as a family in Lethbridge, AB where their first daughter Diane was born. With the dream of owning a farm, they bought 40 acres, sight unseen and moved to Malakwa, BC. They worked hard developing raw land. With the kindness of neighbors, they soon had a home and shortly after their last daughter Eileen joined the family. Hilde and George built “The Country Inn” brick by brick and started their hobby farm which they operated for 40 years. Hilde’s passion was pleasing people and she did that without effort. Everything was homemade by hand and always made with love! In 1992, Hilde and George decided to retire in Sicamous where they enjoyed the convenience of small-town living!
Hilde was predeceased by her husband George and her son John. Missing her dearly, daughters Diane Fraser (Peter), Eileen Milliken (Bryan), granddaughters, Wendy Liddle (Mark), Brenda Benty (Leonard), Lisa Fraser, Karen Blake (Riley), Jenny Hutchinson (Justin) and Jackie Lee (Whit), 9 great grandchildren and 7 great, great grandchildren.
Following her wishes, there will be a private family service in the spring. Thank you Dr. Breugem, Salmon Arm General Hospital & Staff, the ENTIRE staff at Hillside Village and Bowers Funeral Home. A memorial donation in Hilde’s name may be made to the Hillside Village Recreational Department. 2891-15th Ave NE, Salmon Arm, BC V1E 1G9 to carry on the legacy of her love of crafts.
