March 26, 1937 - July 6, 2020
It is with great sadness that the Delisle family announces the passing of their husband, father, grand father, mentor, and great friend.
Jean-Guy Delisle passed away at the age of 83 on Monday July 6th 2020 at the Kelowna General Hospital. He was surrounded by his family, comforted knowing that he lived a life to be proud of.
Jean was born on March 26, 1937 in Quebec City. He was the second oldest of four children to Roland and Yvonne Delisle. At age sixteen, Jean ventured out to explore Canada, learning English and mastering the trade of heavy duty mechanics.
Jean met the love of his life, Gaetane in 1962. They moved to northern BC in 1963 and were married in Dawson Creek that same year. After five years of living in various northern BC towns, they settled in Sicamous in 1968 where they fell in love with the mountains and the water.
Jean worked on many hydro dams throughout BC; from Mica Creek, Revelstoke and northern BC, to all the way across the world in India. Towards the end of his career, he pursued his dream of owning a drilling and blasting company until he retired.
Raising a family, taking care of his wife, children and grand children was Jean's true calling. He was a private man, quiet and preferred to have the attention be on others. Core values such as work ethic, loyalty, and respect were who he was, yet his sense of humour was always present.
Jean is survived by his loving wife of fifty six years, Gaetane. His son Jean-Louis and daughter in law Cynthia. His daughter Maryse and son in law Sean. His grandchildren Shae, Calob, Shelby, and Payton whom were his absolute pride and joy. His two sisters Colette, Lise, and their families. An abundance of family and lifelong friends. Jean was predeceased by his parents, Roland and Yvonne, and his brother Andre.
We would like to extend our gratitude to the paramedics, doctors, nurses, and staff at both the Salmon Arm and Kelowna hospitals for their kindness and care.
At this time, our family has requested no service. At a later date we will celebrate the life of our favourite story teller.
