Lloyd Gavel of Sicamous passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at the age of 97. He will be deeply missed and remembered by all who knew him. He is survived by Everett (Dagi) Gavel, Sam (Diane) Gavel, Lynn Skotnitsky (Jaime Guzman Ramirez), Margarito Nerv (Tammy) Castillon, 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Edith Morgan and Yvonne (Clarence) Bailer. Lloyd was predeceased by 6 brothers, 2 sisters, sons Dennis Gavel, Richard Skotnitsky, and Jeffery Skotnitsky, first wife Margaret, and wife Jodie.
Lloyd moved his family from Wetaskiwin, Alberta, to Sicamous in 1970. He enjoyed a full life of family, friends, gardening, houseboating, fishing, converting Greyhound buses into motor homes, and travelling. He volunteered as a bus driver for seniors and was an integral part of Legion and Canadian Cancer Society fundraising.
A celebration of life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Br99 Sicamous on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at 11 a.m.
Also on Sunday, July 16, we are hosting a pancake breakfast in Lloyd’s memory from 9 to 11 a.m. outdoors at the Legion.
