It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our dad who passed away peacefully at Arbor House in Salmon Arm on October 9, 2010. He leaves us to join his beloved wife Jackie (Moran) and his sisters Odell (French) and Babe (Defoe). He will be greatly missed by his daughters Yvonne (James) and Tracy (Don), and his son Bill (Zinaida). He is also survived by grandsons Roger (Stacey) and Josh, two great-grand children Sierra and Colton, and many special nieces and nephews.

Dad was raised in Revelstoke where he developed his love of fishing, skiing and the great outdoors. He enlisted in the Royal Air Force and served in England, North Africa and India. Upon his return, he met and married the love of his life, Jackie (Moran). Together they ran Roger’s Ladies Wear while dad worked as an electrician for Burridge’s until his retirement in 1973.

His happiest days were those spent on the shores of the Shuswap. Dad’s great love was for his wife and family, followed by his love for Annis Bay, fishing, gardening and his continual “work projects” which he encouraged both family and friends to embrace with enthusiasm. His work room was always a source of old treasures when friends and neighbours were in search of parts or fittings – if he didn’t have one, he made one. He was always there to lend a helping hand, and was a serious individual at an evening of cards. Many were amazed with his ability to watch 3 televised hockey games at one time. Dad’s quick wit took some by surprise given his generally unassuming nature. He retained this wonderful sense of humour throughout his 97 years.

The care he received from the dedicated staff at Arbor House during his final years is greatly appreciated.

Dad has left us with many wonderful memories – he will be forever in our hearts.
