District takes odd approach to hiring local

I see BWP Consulting is getting another shot at controlling mosquitoes.

I see BWP Consulting is getting another shot at controlling mosquitoes.

Coun. Fred Bush said it was wet weather conditions. We have high water every few years, and in the 20 years I have lived here, I have never seen such a bad year for mosquitoes.

When Sicamous did the mosquito control I would see the ground workers out in the swamps almost every day. With the contractor, I never see them.

One condition of bringing BWP back is to hire locals for the ground work.

I see the jobs for two ground workers is posted in a Salmon Arm paper, Lakeshore News Feb. 3, but no posting in our Eagle Valley News. It said preference will be given to candidates familiar with the area and willing to live in Sicamous. That doesn’t sound like hiring locals.

I think we have a really good mayor and council in place. Please look into this.
