Pee Wee Preds endure physical Vernon Team

The Peewee Predators travelled to Vernon on Oct. 30 to play the Sharks, in a very physical game.

The Peewee Predators travelled to Vernon on Oct. 30 to play the Sharks, and were  treated to a tight, high-pressure and pretty physical game.

Sicamous goalie, Tyler Kruger and the Sharks goalie both did great. Sicamous opened the scoring halfway through the first on a goal by Kohen Martin, his fifth of the season, assisted by Kevin Redman and Andrew Reid. The Sharks tied up the game in the second. The third period was when things started to get physical and penalties started to be called. Unfortunately, a rash of penalties near the end of the game put Vernon on a four-on-three power play, and they scored at 1:03 left, to take the lead and the win 2-1.

Emily Gordon and the rest of the defensive squad worked hard all game. The Predators are now 2-1 on the season.

The Predators hosted the North Okanagan Knights on Nov. 6, and the Knights came out hard and put five goals up on the board in the first period. Down 5-0, the Predators came out very re-focused in the second period and scored about 15 seconds in. The goal was cored by Kohen Martin, assisted by Haydn Gjaltema and Emily Gordon.

The game was much tighter defensively for both teams from that point out. The Knights scored their sixth goal about halfway through the second, and popped in another two goals in the third period to beat the Predators 9-1. Kohen Martin leads the Predators team with nine points.

The Predators’ next home game is Nov. 20, at 9 a.m. versus Salmon Arm 1.
