Pro-Am game to see NHLers Franson, Smyth

The annual Salmon Arm Hockey School Pro-Am Scholarship game is set to go on Wednesday, Aug. 10 at 7:30 p.m. at Sunwave Centre.

The annual Salmon Arm Hockey School Pro-Am Scholarship game is set to go on Wednesday, Aug. 10 at 7:30 p.m. at Sunwave Centre.

Two well-known NHL players have confirmed their attendance. Ryan Smyth and Cody Franson will be suiting up once again. Both are heading into the current NHL season with new teams.

Smyth returns to his home roots with the Edmonton Oilers and Franson goes from the Nashville Predators to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Others expected to be in the lineup include Cody’s brother, Cane, of the Vancouver Giants and homegrown minor hockey product Shane Danyluk of the Prince Albert Raiders.

Others from Salmon Arm include Scott Jackson, property of the Tampa Bay Lightning, former SilverBack and Vernon Viper, Cody Bostock, and Josh Cowan of the Red Deer Rustlers.

Former Salmon Arm SilverBack captain, Damon Kipp, now of the University of New Hampshire Black Bears of the NCAA, will make his return to Sunwave Centre.

Last year’s scholarship winner was Joel Kipp of the Sicamous Eagles.

Tickets will be available at the door, Chevy’s Sports and Brushstrokes. Admission price is $6. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
