In another game that came right down to the wire, the Revelstoke Grizzlies once again proved that they’re the dominant force in the Doug Birks Division after a 2-1 win over the Sicamous Eagles.

The Grizzlies swept the Eagles in the second round of the KIJHL playoffs with a win on Mar. 7. Revelstoke took the series 4-0, and have yet to lose in the post-season.

Although it was a home game for the Eagles, nearly half of the arena was full of Grizzlies fans who made the short trip down Highway 1 to help boost their team to a win.

The two teams were locked in a stalemate for two periods in last night’s game before Eagles forward Reid Tisdale put the home team in front 1-0 with only 7 minutes left in the game.

Revelstoke forward Jake Wallace stepped up for the Grizzlies with just under 4 minutes to play to send the away fans into hysterics and send the game to overtime.

Controversy kicked off the overtime period. Eagles defenceman Landen Janz was sent to the box for an arguable charging call after laying a massive hit on a Grizzlies forward, as the home team argued the hit was clean.

Either way, the Grizzlies capitalized on the man advantage. Just seconds later, Wallace netted his second goal of the night to seal the win for the away team.

Wallace leads all Grizzlies skaters with 11 points in the playoffs so far.

Revelstoke will have to wait to find out who their next-round opponents will be. The Princeton Posse will look to finish off North Okanagan Knights on Friday (Mar. 10) as they lead their second-round series 3-1.
