On Saturday, Feb. 19, the Sicamous Prenovice hockey team had a home game against the Salmon Arm White Bullets.

Sicamous started off strong with shots on net by Jacob Dewitt, Colton Fleming and Alex Dunnett. However, the strong goaltending by Salmon Arm prevented any goals.

The White Bullets opened the scoring six minutes into the first period.  The Predators had some nice passing happening between Jarrod Clancy and Garrett Dale; however, they were unable to execute a goal.  With five minutes left in the first period, Salmon Arm scored a goal to take a two-goal lead to end the first period.

Again, the Predators came out strong in the second period and Fleming scored to close the gap to within one.  Sidney Watson had a great chance to score; however, the defence was able to clear the puck and Salmon Arm put the pressure on and was able to score three goals. The Preds had their chances again by Watson, Fleming, Dewitt, Dunnett and Darian St. Louis, but the puck just would not go into the Bullets’ net.

To end the second period, Salmon Arm was ahead 5-1.

Halfway through the third period, Sicamous was able to finally beat the Salmon Arm goaltender and Dewitt scored to close the gap.  Daphne Miller showed some impressive stick handling and Ali Logan made some great saves as play continued.  Landan Walsh, Grace Rolston and Wyatt Dale worked hard to battle for the puck.  Salmon Arm was able to net the puck again to go ahead 6-2 but, with three minutes left in the game, Dewitt scored again to close the gap. Sicamous dominated the last two minutes of the game but was not successful in netting the puck. The Bullets nicked the Predators, 6-3.

At the end of the game, all the  players had an opportunity to participate in a shoot out.  Impressive goals were achieved by Dominick Braun and Kayden Klassen.

The Sicamous Predators Prenovice team will play their last game of the season on Saturday, Feb. 26 in Revelstoke against the Revelstoke Fire team.  The season will end with a very exciting parent-versus-kids game on Monday, Feb. 28, and the wind-up hockey banquet will take place on Sunday, March 13.
