Grade 4-7 students at BX Elementary performed Alice in Wonderland on April 10-11

The rabbit hole transported students, audience members and performers, at a recent play put on by Vernon’s BX elementary school.

Alice At Wonderland, The musical was performed by students in Grades 4-7 on April 10 and 11.

It was a modern retelling of the classic, 1865 children’s novel, that followed the 21st century Alice, texting and googling, finding herself in the Wonderland of old where nobody had heard of a smartphone.

“The show was fantastic, and the kids worked so hard,” said Rebecca Hall, a parent of one of the students.

There were 30 lead roles, with four different students playing the titular character. Over 210 supporting cast members helped perform the musical numbers in the mammoth endeavour that resulted in a vibrant, funny and entertaining show.

“Michelle Johnson, the fine arts teacher at BX, had been working on the musical since before Christmas,” said Hall. “She did an incredible job leading the charge with everything from rehearsals, sets, costumes and lighting.”
