R.J. Haney Heritage Village & Museum is looking for accomplices in its upcoming murder mystery show.

In an April 18 media release, general manager Susan Mackie issued a casting call for Haney’s spring dinner theatre production, looking for “enthusiastic volunteers of all ages who love to act.”

The as yet unnamed whodunit is being created by their playwright Sara Schreiner, a passionate storyteller with a love for theatre who started in the entertainment industry with a “memorable stint” as Billy the Beaver and was hooked from there.

“I’m a writer and a devotee of theatre. Above all, I consider myself a connector. My journey has revolved around working with youth in various art programs for the past eight years,” Schreiner said in the release. “Guiding young individuals through the storytelling process, whether in art, photography or theatre, and empowering them to take ownership has proven to be among my most fulfilling endeavours.”

Volunteer actors will get to work with and learn from her, and are encouraged to spread about this unique opportunity to help contribute to the show’s success and reach a broader audience. The time commitment includes rehearsals on June 5, 6 and 10, and performances from June 13 to 15.

Anyone interested in participating can email manager@salmonarmmuseum.org, or call the Village at 250-832-5243.

“We can’t wait to see the incredible talent within our volunteer community,” Mackie added.
