Sicamous Shuswap Youth Soccer players of 2016 celebrate a successful season.

Young Sicamous soccer players will be back on the pitch this summer.

Shuswap Youth Soccer Association is gearing up for its fourth soccer season involving Sicamous teams and players.

Registration is underway for SYSA’s spring outdoor house soccer recreational league, open to players and skills of all ages. Registration forms are available on SYSA’s website at shuswapsoccer.com.

Youth are divided into boys and girls teams in divisions U6 to U9, U10 to U14 and U15 to U18. Practices take place in Sicamous at Parkview Elementary, with games on Saturday in Salmon Arm.

A separate form is available on SYSA’s website for Timbits soccer program for children ages 3 to 5. Parent/guardian participation in the Timbits program is mandatory, and players practice and play in Sicamous at Parkview.

The Sicamous practice schedule will be Mondays and Wednesdays, with U3-U5 Timbits on the pitch from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m., and U6 to U12 players from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

The soccer season is tentatively scheduled to begin April 18, depending on the weather and condition of the playing fields.

Sicamous saw its soccer registrations double for the 2016 season, and Sicamous teams did well, with the U8/U9 boys winning silver at the year-end tournament, and the U8/U9 girls coming in fourth.
