Vera was pre-deceased by husband of 62 years Ken Ready, daughter Laurie Ready, brothers George and John Motoshoski, sisters Sandra Courtney, Elsie Galatiuk, Pauline Holovach, and Florance Onofrachuk.

Vera was born in Shell Valley, Manitoba on Feb 9,1928. She finished school and took her first job near Nepawa, MB. During this time she met her future husband, Ken. They were married in Winnipeg on Dec 24, 1946. After moving around the small towns of Manitoba, they finally settled in Winnipeg with their 3 small children. After Ken retired in 1989, they moved to Sicamous, BC.

Vera was well known for her artistic abilities and passion for nature. A gentle soul, she was kind and caring to all. She was very artistic in all that she did, from knitting little finger puppets for her grand kids, to gardening, recycling, sewing, refinishing furniture, rummage sales and collecting rocks from all her travels. After moving to Sicamous, she joined the local Brush and Pallet Club to pursue her interest in painting. She was also an enthusiastic volunteer in the Sicamous United Church Thrift Shop. There she met many friends in the community.

After husband Ken, and daughter Laurie passed, her health started to decline, and she moved into the Eagle Valley Manor in Sicamous, BC. It was a tough move for her to accept, but she was a warrior throughout and carried on with all her activities.

In Feb 2016 her health began going down again and she was moved to the Good Samaritan Hillside Village where she passed after a brief illness.

The Family would like to thank Dr. Skubiak and all the staff from Hillside Village and Eagle Valley Manor for taking such great care of Mom. And also to Terry Benson who had provided assistance for Mom’s appointments while she lived in Sicamous.

Funeral service will be held at the Sicamous United Church on Saturday January 28, 2017 at 11:00 am followed by interment at the Eagle Valley and District Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Care or the Shuswap General Hospital - Children’s ward.
